Earlier today we had some server hiccups, caused by maintenance in the datacenter where the Snowcrash Digital services are hosted. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have cost you.
The good news however is that everything is back up and running, and that the hiccups were caused by new network switches they’re rolling out at the LAX datacenter – to give us even better connections in the future!
Phil (ppmediadev Blinker) is feeling unwell today, so Jim (Hippyjim Starbrook) will be taking Phil’s office hours at 11am PDT, at our showroom on Ansonville in Second Life.
Phil says he should be up and around again in time to help out at Jim’s office hours on Saturday at noon PDT.
It seems there are still some affiliate vendors active on the grid, set up to pay commission to the previous management. These vendors are not authorised, and as the server has been removed, they will not deliver a player to the buyer.
Our affilliate programme is not currently live, so if you have an affiliate vendor, please contact Jim or Phil to arrange a replacement once the new programme is launched.
We’re happy to announce that as a result of the continuously growing user and customer base, we’ll start organizing in-world office hours from the week of August 16th 2010 onward. During these office hours, you can come visit us at our showroom on Ansonville in Second Life and talk directly to the people managing Snowcrash Digital. Any concerns, questions and feedback concerning the Hermes range of products are welcome. Office hours will be held in English.
Both Phil (ppmediadev Blinker, front-office management) and Jim (HippyJim Starbrook, back-office management) will have office hours weekly. Phil’s office hours will be every Tuesday from 11am PST until noon PST, Jim will have office hours on Saturdays from Noon until 1pm PST.
Please note that although we’re happy to take any questions, each of us has his own specialty. Phil specialises in marketing, and Jim in the technical side. Please don’t let that put you off visiting – if you have a question for Phil, but can’t make it to his office hours, please feel free to visit Jim. If he can’t answer the question directly he’ll pass it on to Phil, and vice versa.
One of our Hermes MP3 Workbench publishers had a problem recently, so we thought we’d just clear up a misunderstanding.
The wiki page describing how to create your CD album has been updated with some sound advice – don’t give the CD script to your customers to put in other objects. The CD script needs to be put into a suitably set up CD object, otherwise you’ll see errors with it. It’s designed to be rezzed and loaded into the player – the script itself shouldn’t be added to the player – this just won’t work. Please visit the wiki if you need help in setting up your CD.
We’re happy to announce that today we realeased a new expansion for the Hermes Optical backdrop system. A much requested feature has always been the possibility to use your own textures with your Hermes Optical Backdrop, and that’s exactly what this new expansion allows you to do. The system is based on a “disc” system. You can categorize your textures by putting them on different discs – much easier than having to manage all of your textures in a single object.
And there’s more – with this new free expansion, you’re also able to use our background expansion packs – preloaded background discs with carefully selected backgrounds, optimized for us with your Hermes Optical backdrop. For now we’ve released 4 sets of 10 backgrounds; beach scenes, mountain scenes and 2 abstract background sets. Come over to the Hermes Optical shop to try them out!
