Did you notice those tiny avatars carrying big heavy piles of prims across the grid? That was us!

Snowcrash Digital is moving to a parcel on a full sim instead of the homestead one we currently have. Due to the move, some of our products might not be available through our stores in-world for a brief period of time while we set-up at the new place.

We will also use this opportunity to go through our full range of ready-to-go products and re-evaluate their functionality. As we’re one of the few companies who’s history dates back to Second Life early days, so do several of our products. Although they’ve always been kept up-to-date and regularly updated, we feel the need to review them all and optimize them.

Some of you will already have noticed that our flagship product the “Hermes Workbench” has been upgraded to version 3. Keep a close eye on this blog to read about all the other products that will be put back on the market being enchanced for even more functionality and fun!

You can always find all of your favorite toys and gadgets in our SL Marketplace store though, located at https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/48473

Stay tuned for more updates on our new in-world location!

We’ve just issued an update to the Hermes Workbench that uses the new script delivery system.

As we previously mentioned we’re no longer using bots to create the scripts, from now on you’ll be able to generate the script instantly on the web, and copy it into an LSL script that you can add to your album object.

The new workbench contains the new style album objects, both transferable and demo versions.

Existing album scripts will still work, but if you need to create a new album script, please use the new system.

All existing workbench owners have been sent an updated workbench. If you missed the inventory offer, you can request a reissue from the Hermes Workbench Updater object at:

http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ansonville/59/51/24

If you have any problems please contact support at : http://support.snowcrashdigital.com/

One of the features of Hermes CD publishing system that makes it unique is the script delivery bot. It is also one of the most fragile, problematic and slow parts of the system.

We started work recently on a replacement to the system that wouldn’t require the use of bots, but would still give the same level of security and ease of use.

Unfortunately, it’s not quite ready, but a recent update to Second Life has permanently broken our bots.

We’ve temporarily disabled script deliveries while we push up the work on the replacement system. We should have the new system ready to go this weekend. It will require a change to the web panel so we will need to take this offline for a while – but we’ll announce it beforehand. It won’t interrupt playback of existing albums at all.

Existing burned album scripts will still continue to work – no replacement is needed for existing content. Once the new system is in place, we’ll issue an updated workbench to all existing publishers, to allow them to take advantage of the new system.

In the meantime, if there are any album scripts you need urgently, please send your avatar details, and the name of the album to jim@snowcrashdigital.com, and I’ll prepare the scripts by hand. Please be aware that I won’t reply instantly, so please allow a few hours for me to receive and respond to your email.

Once the work is done, you’ll be able to enjoy a much smoother publishing experience, with the ability to create demo albums, sellable albums, and vendors with ease.

As some of you might already have noticed by receiving the updated version of the popular Hermes Optical Backdrop system, we are currently in the process of upgrading and updating several products that are part of our Second Life photography range of products; Hermes Optical.

We’re mainly focusing at improving response times and lowering the prim count of each object.

Each of the Hermes Optical objects will check for a new version of the product every 48 hours. If for some reason you missed the update in Second Life – No need to panic, you’ll be offered the update again 48 hours later.

It’s been a bit quiet on the Snowcrash Digital blog recently, but we’re happy to announce that over the upcoming weeks we’ll have a whole lot of new things to tell you about. The last few months have been particularly busy for both the code monkey and the marketing troll here at Snowcrash Digital – we were dragged away from our computer screens (horror!) to take care of some things in the real world.

Because of that, we haven’t introduced or updated any products for a while – We mainly focused on keeping things running smoothly. And although we’ve never really been away, we’re both back and working as hard as ever before. Expect some exciting announcements to be posted on the blog soon, including some news about how we’re making the good stuff we offer even better!

The Holidays are just around the corner, and traditionally that means that all the nerds & geeks at Snowcrash Digital™ will be surgically separated from their keyboards and put into the middle of family, friends and stuffed turkey.

Because of that, we thought it would be handy to give you a quick update on how you can contact us during the Holidays. Snowcrash Digital™ will be “closed” from Thursday December 23th 2010 till Monday January 3rd 2011 – individual team members will be reachable by e-mail, but please keep in mind that they won’t be “in office”, and response time will be slower than normal.

For product support, please use the support portal at http://support.snowcrashdigital.com. Although it’s Holiday Season, support calls will be responded to the usual way, which means within 12 hours. Please note that this only goes for the support portal; directly mailing one of our team members can mean a delay, as some of them are travelling or in areas where there’s no internet around. (Yes, those still exist!)

Management office hours will not be held over the next two weeks – we will start these up again January 8th 2010, when Phil will be having office hours at noon pacific time. For any urgent matters, please refer to our support system – for any other topics, please feel free to send an email to Phil or Jim directly, but keep a longer response time in mind.

Wishing you a great end-of-year and a happy 2011!
